JulieCatledge
Doing My Part

This month our special Imani, or Faith, Offering is composed by Sis. Julie Catledge and is a reflection regarding her brief public involvement in the Civil Rights Movement. Please take some time, read this fascinating account and familairize yourself with one person's real-life experience during this turbulent era.

Food For Thought
The Monthly Word: The Great Faith of God's People
by Sis. Laura Adams

SisLauraAdamsFaith makes us sure of what we hope for and gives us proof of what we cannot see. It was faith that made our ancestors pleasing to God. Because of faith we know that God is always there doing what it takes for each and every one of His children. Because they had faith, Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain; Enoch did not die; Noah obeyed God; and Abraham lived as a stranger in the Promised Land. These are just a few of the people whom God exemplified his all incompassing power. There is no valley low enough and no mountain high enough to stop and hold God from his almighty doing. The people whom God accepts will live because of their faith or the people God accepts because of their faith will live. Please join me and many others this month in having faith in the Father for he already knows what you, we, and I are going through and absolutely none of the crazy cares of this world can stop Him. I love you my sisters and brothers and God bless one and all of you most assuredly. Please open your Bible and venture to the 11th Chapter of the Book of Hebrews; there you will find the scriptures you'll need if you suddenly discover yourself without faith. Indeed, the entire text deals with this very issue so read all and renew your faith in God's promise.

My humble thanks to you all.

Pastoral History: Rev. C.K. Steele
"He Healed The Community"

RevCKSteeleThis month, in keeping with the retrospctive Civil Rights Era theme of this issue, we break from the norm, profiling past pastors of Flipper, and pay brief homage to a man of great courage and leadership who led the call for human dignity right here in Tallahassee--the Rev. Charles Kenzie Steele (1914-1980), late pastor of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Steele, a close friend and confidante of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was a charter member of the Southern Christian Leadership Council (SCLC) and orchestrated a successful bus boycott here in Florida's capital. Please click here for more information regarding the life and deeds of this notable man of God.
