In The Spotlight
Member Profile: Sis. Arryal J. Middleton

ArryalMiddletonOur member In The Spotlight for January2001 is Sis. Arryal Joan Johnson Middleton. A native of Tallahassee, Sis. Middleton is one of four daughters born to beloved Flipperites Bro. David and Sis. Coreen Johnson. She was reared with sisters Winifred, Ruby, and Kimper and has been married to husband Howard Middleton for 16-years. The couple have two children, D'Andre and A'vion--both active members of our Youth Church. A lifelong member of Flipper herself, Sis. Middleton graduated from Rickards High and received her bachelor of science degree from Florida State University where she majored in psychology and minored in criminology. After attending Howard Law School in our nation's capital for a year, Arryal returned to Tallahassee and gained her teaching certificate from Florida A&M University. She is presently employed at Canopy Oaks Elementary School where she teaches 5th grade. A former 'Teacher of the Year' and 'Ida S. Baker Memorial Educator of the Year' reciprient while resident in nearby Panama City, Sis. Middleton is a member of the Board of Stewardesses, the Usher Board, and is currently director of the Inspirational Dance Team. We certainly wish to extend our appreciation to Sis. Middleton for her many years of dedicated service at Flipper and hope that she and her family continue to enjoy the many blessings our Lord nad Savior Jesus Christ.

Youth Profile: Master Edward M. Irvin

EdwardIrvinThis month our Youth profile spotlights Edward Michael Irvin. "Eddy", as he is more familiarly known, is the precocious 5-year son of Flipperite Sis. Michelle Irvin and the grandson and great-nephew of fellow longtime Flipperites, Sisters (in blood and Christ) Ann Collins and Sylvia Livinston respectively. He attends Toya Day Care Center and is quite fond of popcorn, potato chips, and (surprisingly) vegetables. "Oh, that boy is just crazy about broccoli", says Aunt Sylvia proudly. Master Irvin also enjoys playing kiddy basketball and, we are told, is a big fan of sports legend Michael Jordan. He is a member of the YPD, Choir #3, and a regular attendee of Flipper's Church School. Last year the editor of Praise had the pleasure of chaperoning Eddy, along with his cousins Jonathon and Alexis, during the annual Youth Church outing to Wild Adventure Amusement Park-Valdosta. Though Master Irvin went "AWOL" for a hot minute (nearly causing Bro. Catledge to have a complete nervous breakdown!), a fun time was had by one and all. Bless you Eddy for that lovable smile, your highly contagious laughter, and for remaining one of our Heavenly Father's most enjoyable creations.
