Youth FYI

TurkeyBasket
The YPD will be handing out thanksgiving baskets this month to a local charity and they are in desperate need of your help in collecting can goods and other appropriate food stuff. If you would like to donate items, please see Sis. Ruby Edwards, Sis. Lucy Cofield, or Bro. Mike Catledge or leave your contributions at the church. There will be a designated drop-off area located in the Memorial Hall. The last day to make donations will be 6:30pm on November 15 at the monthly YPD meeting. Your co-operation in this endeavor is greatly appreciated.

Christian Mentors Take The Lead

KennyBrownOn Sunday, November 12 the Board of Christian Education will present Orange & Green Day--an occasion where we as a church can come together and reflect on the unqualified contributions the faculty, administration, staff, and student body of Florida A&M University have offered as role models for our youth and the Greater FAMU community. Accordingly, the theme of the event shall be "Giving Thanks To Our Christian Mentors: Leading Our Youth Toward A Spiritual Tomorrow." Bro. Charles W. Lattimore, Jr., Mr. FAMU 2000-2001 (left), whom we are most proud to call one of our very own, will be the keynote speaker and specially invited guests include Melissa St. Joy, Miss FAMU 2000-2001 and her court; LaTonya Sapp, Miss FAMU DRS and her court; Erika Jasper, Miss College of Pharmacy and her court; as well as members and staff of the Rattler football team, the Marching 100, Predident Humphries, and a host of other university officials, faculty members, FAMU students, and members of the other various collegiate courts. As usual, dinner will be served following the service.

Blissfully, this fall several families at Flipper Chapel have been blessed by the arrival of new bundles of joy. Beginning with Bro. Marcus and Sis. Genyne Boston, who celebrated the birth of their first child, Marcus Boston III (top, left), back in August; Bro. Marion and Sis. Barbara Johnson were beaming with pride as they announced the coming of their newest grandchild, Destiny Jhanae' (top, center), born to Sis Jennifer Johnson Donald and husband Greg. Not to be left out, Sis. Margaret Ward, Flipper Chapel's recently designated church secretary, welcomed the arrival of her grandchild, Tavarius Jawan (tope, right) , born to her daughter Kimika Ward. We also recently celebrated the baptism of the grandchild of beloved Flipperites Sis. Mabel Nelson and Sis. Lucille Smith, Joseph Tyrese (second row, center), newborn son of Bro. Michael and Sis. Daphne Nelson. We would like to send out our hearty congratulations to the families of each of these little ones and sincerely hope our Heavenly Father continues to shower His blessings on their various households.
